Class IV Laser

High Power Laser Therapy

K-Laser is a Class IV Laser Therapy, also known as High Power Laser Therapy (HPLT). It offers patients a painless, non-surgical, and side-effect-free treatment for conditions previously refractive to traditional medical care.

The High-power laser therapy targets damaged tissue with specific wavelengths of light (66o nm, 800 nm, 905 nm, 970 nm ) that have been found to interact with tissue and accelerate the healing process. This works because our body transforms the light into chemical energy through cellular mechanisms called Photobiomodulation. This chemical energy is essential to carrying out healing the damaged tissue and kick-starting the biological functions to heal the tissue in a short time span .

Photobiomodulation stimulates the release of endorphins and collagen by stimulating the cytochrome C Complex in mitochondria. It may eventually normalize damaged or injured tissue by accelerating the healing process. The application of therapeutic doses of light will improve dysfunctional tissue, and  Patients will see the benefits of the laser through a decrease in pain, inflammation, swelling, and recovery time.

Before taking laser therapy, one thing to consider is to ensure that the laser therapy is delivered through a High-power laser (HPLT) and not a cold laser (LPLT), as not all lasers are the same when it comes to treating pain and injury. Due to the reduced cost of low-power laser therapy machines, many patients may have the impression that they have received “True” Class IV Laser therapy. Misinformed patients and uninformed practitioners often generate this impression. There certainly can be differences in the effectiveness of high-powered Laser vs. low-power Laser therapy.
