Condition Overview
Temporomandibular Joint Disorders (TMJ or TMD) go far beyond jaw clicking or occasional discomfort. They can cause persistent headaches, facial pain, neck tightness, ear fullness or ringing, dizziness, difficulty chewing, jaw locking, and even breathing or posture changes. For many, these symptoms disrupt eating, speaking, sleeping, and emotional well-being — often misdiagnosed or misunderstood for years.
TMJ dysfunction often stems from joint misalignment, disc displacement, muscle overuse, chronic inflammation, or nerve sensitization. The result? Jaw pain, clicking or locking, facial tension, ear pain, tinnitus, dizziness, and neck discomfort that make speaking, chewing, or even yawning painful. Over time, TMJ disorder can lead to abnormal movement patterns, poor posture, and heightened nervous system sensitivity , impacting everything from mood to quality of life.
But here’s the real problem: Most TMJ symptoms don’t just originate in the jaw. The cervical spine, nervous system, facial musculature, and postural imbalances are often key contributors. This is why conventional approaches, splints, mouth guards, soft diets, and pain relievers, rarely provide long-term solutions. Without a system that restores true mechanical balance, nerve health, and joint coordination, the symptoms return again and again.
